Provider Course Description

​The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider course enables health-care professionals to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. The course materials are scenario-based, and a team approach is used to teach emergency management of pediatric patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest, from the early minutes through patient stabilization and/or the transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital.

Target Group

The PALS course is designed for health-care professionals who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies and for health-care students seeking first-time or renewed PALS-training credentials.

Prerequisite for PALS: is a current HSFC BLS for Health-care Provider (C) card.

PALS Course Content

  • ​Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest
  • Systematic approach to pediatric assessment
  • Effective respiratory management
  • Validation of skills for one-person and two-person CPR and AED skills for infants and children
  • Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
  • Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

PALS Renewal Course

  • Approximately 6- 8 hours
  • Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for a PALS Renewal Course Completion Card
  • $325.00 including lunch and coffee/tea/snacks
  • ​Manuals are an additional cost
Cancellation policy

• Course registrations are not confirmed until full payment is received by SIMS.

• SIMS reserves the right to cancel any course. If a course is cancelled, students will be notified via telephone and/or e-mail to arrange for training credit or a full refund. Every effort will be made to reschedule a cancelled course or transfer enrollments to a later date.

There will be a $75 administration fee for any course cancellations/date changes.

If you cancel your booking 7 days or less in advance of the course date, NO refund will be given.

No shows or no call prior to a course is considered a cancellation, and NO refund will be given.
